Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) has retreated on a Republican bill requiring vaginal probes .. indeed, a government mandate, a costly, and unneeded medical procedure for every woman in the Commonwealth who wants to exercise her constitutional right to choose.
See, the governor really, really wants to be somebody’s vice-president .. and hadn’t counted on the female backlash on such a disgusting bill .. a bill that passed both houses and he said he’d sign, before he said he wouldn’t.
Hundreds of women keep coming to the Capitol .. standing outside in silence, being a reminder of the great civil rights battles of the past. Women have fought hard for women’s health rights, rights to contraception and abortion a long time ago .. and it was settled for a long time.
This has to do with being devalued in a dehumanizing way .. told they don’t know what’s best for them .. told that contraception a bad thing by good ol’ boys who want to dominate women and send them back home barefoot and pregnant to be good Stepford wives.
You can be sure that Gov. McDonnell’s flip-flop was NOT motivated because he suddenly saw the light, that he was degrading women and 14 y/o girls .. no, it was only after a massive public outcry and national ridicule that he decided it was in his self-serving interest in being a candidate for VP.
How ’bout we strap McDonnell to a stainless steel table and probe his rectum for cranial tissue? Bet we’d find some .. albeit not much.
